Fort Augustus is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the Highlands of Scotland, not only for searching for the Water Horse that we call the Loch Ness Monster but also for visiting Urquhart Castle on the way to the Highland Capital of Inverness, Fort William, Eileen Donan castle on the way to the Isle of Skye or visiting one of the many distilleries on the Whisky Trail. You could walk or ride the Great Glen cycle way, climb one of the many mountains or Munroes, or enjoy a forest or lakeside walk. Fort Augustus is situated on the A82 between Fort William and Inverness and sits on the south shore of beautiful Loch Ness. Rail services to and from Inverness and Fort William connect the Highlands with Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh and all the major UK cites.The Caledonian Sleeper operates from London Euston to Inverness or Fort William. Inverness is the gateway airport to the Highlands and 1.5 hours from London. Flights are available from Europe airports.
