An apartment at Castelfiorito. With magnificent panoramic views of, and very close to the spectacular mountain ranges of the Sibillini & Gran Sasso National Parks. Ideal for those who love and appreciate walking, cycling & other outdoor pursuits. Also for touring & sightseeing the Piceno sights, being centrally located between the typical Marche towns of Ascoli Piceno & Amandola. Castelfiorito - the hamlet of flowers, is situated at a height of around 660 metres, near the small village of Casale in very quiet surroundings. However it is only 2 minutes walk to the very popular traditional restaurant La Diga. Easy road access from the regional airports of Ancona & Pescara, with daily Ryanair flights from the UK. 2 mins walk to a traditional restaurant, and 10 mins drive to shops, banks & other amenities.
Situated in the heart of the Piceno region of Le Marche, Italy. Centrally located between the towns of Ascoli Piceno and Amandola. Travellers who want the best of central Italy are now heading for Le Marche, It is pronounced "lay markay", is plural (Le Marche) and is sometimes translated into English as "The Marches". The region lies on the eastern side of central Italy, between the Adriatic Sea and the high Apennine mountains and much of it remains unspoilt by the ravages of mass tourism. The Adriatic coast has been a favorite for "seaside" holiday makers for decades; but few venture far from the beaches. However inland, perhaps more so than anywhere else in central Italy, you will find places where time really has stood still.
We have 2 other similar apartments that can sleeps 5 each adjoining this one and the rates are also exactly the same. The 2nd and 3rd apartment are on the upper floor and the 3 together are ideal for large groups please contact us for details.

Seasons of Le Marche : Even during the peak holiday season, between mid-July to mid-August, it is rarely overcrowded and up in Castelfiorito, although it can be very hot, the mountain breezes are usually cooling. What to do in Le Marche : Many people who come to Le Marche are looking for a taste of the "real" Italy, and a region that is welcoming to visitors. The Towns of Le Marche : The provincial capital of Ascoli Piceno lies at the southern end of Le Marche. and the fascinating old Quarter is well worth visiting. Its marble-paved main square The Piazza del Popolo is one of the most beautiful in Italy.
Local area information / Local activities
The Natural Beauty of Le Marche. Many tourists visit Le Marche for its natural beauty and most of the spectacular inland mountain country remains unscathed by the worst excesses of the 20thC. How do you fancy a 116km ride with 2400m of climbing? : Castelfiorito is south facing with the Grand Sasso National Park to the south east and the Sibillini National Park to the south west. It is the Grand Sasso that I climb into, climbing to 823m in 10km through woodland of which most of the ride takes place. The road plummets through small hamlets, descending needs a little care as if you did leave the road no one would find you in the woods. I chose to take the short cut to Valle Castellana taking out a loop of 15km. Being above the tree line, the views are more open, and when the descent starts the sea is visible over the rolling countryside, descending down to Ascoli and passing Civitella del Tronto a place worth visiting, as it is perched on a ridge with town walls.
Local area information / Local activities
The last two climbs...the first a mere 9km followed by a short descent to Roccafluvione, and the final climb to Castelfiorito, not an easy climb as it seems longer than its 8.5km passing several times within sight of Castelfiorito before turning past the local village church and the excellent Le Diga Restaurant. There are also Gran Fondo's in the area, the Le Marche Marathon being the most popular. The Tirreno Adriatico is an important, week long cycling event, which tours the wonderful Le Marche region every March. This is my second year as a spectator, but living in cycling distance of most of the stages, and the wonderful weather makes this especially enjoyable. The overall winner this year was Fabian Cancellara of Team CSC, but I was there to cheer on Mark Cavendish and Roger Hammond. Mark took a fine 3rd in the last stage of the race, in front of some of the best sprinters like Petacchi, Zabul, Boonen and Hondo.
